The 1997 NBA All-Star Weekend was held in Cleveland, Ohio. It marked the Gold Anniversary of the NBA and was the 47th NBA All-Star Game. A ceremony was held at half time to honour the game's 50 greatest players. This was repeated in Cleveland this season, 25 years on to mark the game's 75th Anniversary season.

The game's MVP was Glen Rice of the Charlotte Hornets, heating up for 26 points in just 25 minutes. Besting a star-studded cast that included Michael Jordan tallying the first triple-double in All-Star game history. The '97 Schick Rookie game featured a duel between future Hall of Famers Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant.
