Boomers Gold Rush Marches On

Boomers Gold Rush Marches On
The Boomers have secured a spot in the Semi Finals of the FIBA Asia Cup with a 14 point win over a gallant Japan team.
Japan were missing the services of their NBA Star Yuta Watanabe, but that didn’t stop a brilliant performance from Keisei Tominaga (33 points on 8/15 from 3) to keep them in the game!
It was the first time all tournament the Boomers have been challenged, and that brought out the best in Thon Maker, who had a big night with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists!

Rising star for the Boomers Tyrese Proctor added 7 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists off the bench, and is looking every bit the superstar that Duke have their hands on.
Proctor has averaged 10 points and just under 4 rebounds in the tournament, and has been a key spark plug off the bench for the Boomers.
A big tournament like this from Proctor will go a long way in deciding if he’s in the rotation for the 2023 World Cup.
The Boomers aren’t short on guard talent with the likes of Mills, Giddey and Daniels to name a few. It’ll make for healthy competition when camp rolls around!

The Trans-Tasman rivalry will take centre stage on Saturday night when the Boomers face off against the Tall Blacks for a spot in the Asia Cup Final Sunday night.
The Tall Blacks were victorious over a red hot Korea Republic last night 88-78, with a huge game from their own rising star Flynn Cameron (son of the great Pero Cameron).
Cameron went off for a near triple double, with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists.

Australia should have a little too much for a young New Zealand team, but it’s great to see plenty of talent coming through from our friendly neighbours, which will hopefully bring some healthy competition in these tournaments going forward.

The Boomers will most likely face off against Lebanon in the final, who are heavy favourites to knock off the surprise packets of the tournament in Jordan.
Jordan knocked off the highly fancied Iran team in the Quarter finals to set up a match up against Lebanon, who also upset China in their Quarter Final.

The Boomers won’t have it all their way against a strong Lebanon outfit, and it should be a very tight final on Sunday night if results go as planned on Saturday.
Wael Arakji (averaging just under 26 points per game for the tournament) and Jonathan Arledge will be of main concern for the Boomers if they are to defend their Asia Cup crown!

Cheers
