Boston Celtics NBA Champs!

Boston Celtics NBA Champs!

The Boston Celtics have won their 18th NBA Title today with a 106-88 victory in Game 5 over the Dallas Mavericks!

Jaylen Brown has taken home the Finals MVP (after already claiming the Eastern Conference Finals MVP) finishing with 21 Pts-8 Rbs and 6 Asts as well as 2 Steals.

Team mate Jayson Tatum, someone who was heavily favoured to win Finals MVP going in, had a monster night to put the finishing touches on their dream title run, with 31 Pts-8 Rbs and 11 Asts. He also finished with a couple of steals too, showing how elite defensively this Celtics team was all year long.

Boston probably don’t win the title though without Jrue Holiday and Derrick White, as Jrue Holiday got the engine started in the first Qtr. Holiday finished with 15 Pts-11 Rbs and 4 Asts. White nailed 4 3s on the night to finish with 14 Pts and 8 Rbs of his own, showing once again this Boston team is the most well rounded team in the league.

Al Horford, who’s been waiting on an NBA Title for a very long time, finally had his dream come true today, as he had a nice night of his own, 9 Pts and 9 Rbs, going 2-3 from the land of plenty to win his first ring in what very well may be his last season!

Dallas will be very disappointed with what they brought to the table here in Game 5, getting beat to a lot of loose balls and it almost looked like Boston were the team down 3-1 with the desperation they were playing with!

Luka once again had a poor night from 3, going 2-9 from deep (28 Pts-12 Rbs and 5 Asts) to finish the last 3 games of the series with 3-23 from 3! Something we will probably never see again from someone as ridiculously good as Luka Doncic is.

Kyrie Irving also once again struggled in Boston and the Mavs will be hoping he can shake this off heading into next season, as there’s every chance these two teams may meet again in next years NBA Finals series. Kyrie finished with 15 Pts and 9 Asts, also struggling from 3 (3-9). It’s hard to win a game when your best two players combine for 5-18 from deep!

Josh Green and Dante Exum started very well for Dallas, Green going 4-6 from 3 (14 Pts) and Dante hitting his lone 3 ball of the night (1-1 for 4 Points). It felt like both players deserved more game time, but Kidd decided to roll with PJ Washington who had a poor night from the field (0-5 from 3).

Dallas were their own worst enemy overall for the entire series, having an incredibly tough time from deep, coming up against a far superior outfit, you simply can’t win a series shooting that poorly.

This may not be the last time we see Tatum and Brown raise a banner in Boston, as you’d think there’s every chance they get to Banner 20 before their careers are over in Boston.

Granted they come back just as hungry to win another NBA Title, this Boston Celtics team may be running the NBA (especially out East) for a very long time unless moves are made around them to stop them from getting back here next season!

Overall an outstanding NBA Season with the best team winning the title at the end of the day!

Cheers
