March Madness

March Madness

The best month in the basketball calendar year has arrived and it’s time for some March Madness!!

The Final Four takes place in Arizona this year, so the Arizona Wildcats will be hopefully to reach this point to get a little home Cookin!

For that to be the case, they’ll most likely have to get through North Carolina in their region, and the Tar Heels are desperate for a National Title for the senior studs.

RJ Davis and Armando Bacot lead a Tar Heels team who 2 years ago lost in the final to Kansas. They missed the tournament last year, but are back to put North Carolina Basketball on the map this time round.

The Connecticut Huskies are favoured to go back to back in the tournament and if so, would be the first team to do so since the 2006-2007 Florida Gators. The Gators were led by Corey Brewer, Joakim Noah and Al Horford, all who had extremely good NBA Careers.

UConn were dominant in their win in last years tournament, and have looked just as good this year, but are in what is known as the Region of death.

They’ll have to go through 3 Conference champions (Iowa State, Illinois and Auburn) as well as running into (potentially) 2 opponents from last year’s Final 4 in Florida Atlantic and San Diego State!

Houston and Purdue are favoured to come out of their Regions, and will be after plenty of revenge for what went down last year. Purdue were embarrassed by 16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson last year, but Zach Edey has them primed ready for a big tournament run as long as they can get through opening weekend.

Houston failed to live up to expectations last year, especially with the Final Four taking place in Houston. They’re placed in the South, and may very well run into one of our favourites in the first few rounds.

Tyrese Proctor will be hoping he can lead his Duke Blue Devils to the promise land, and if so, will be on the Boomers radar come Paris Olympics time!!

All in all, this is one of the best Basketball  tournaments going round, in particular opening weekend!

Enjoy the Madness everyone!
