With the Boston Celtics up 2-0 on Dallas, they are 2 wins away from finally finishing off a Championship Run.
This Boston team, led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, have been heavily in title contention over the past 5 years.
They’ve fell short in the conference finals multiple times, as well as also losing to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals just a couple of years ago.
But the time now seems right, even if Tatum isn’t playing his most efficient basketball!
Boston won game 2 105-98 on the back of a brilliant performance from Jrue Holiday who had 26 Pts on 11-14 from the field. This was backed up by Jaylen Brown, who had 21 Pts and 7 Asts of his own (as well as being a constant menace on the defensive end of the floor. Whilst Tatum shot 6-22 to finish with 18 Pts, but countered that posting a near triple double with 9 Rebounds and 12 Asts. His poor shooting nights haven’t seemed to worry this Boston team, who on any given night can have anyone get going, which gives them a 2-0 advantage heading into Dallas.
Luka Doncic seems incredibly hurt right now, mentally and physically! He’s wrapped up like the Mummy on the bench while still posting a 30 Pt Triple Double (32-11-11) but needs his running buddy to come with him.
Kyrie Irving was welcomed with open arms in Boston as fans cheered loud for him *Sarcasm Overload*
It affected Kyrie’s play for the Mavs, so he will want to turn things around at home and get this Dallas team back on track and win Game 3.
Dallas will know that if they lose Game 3, this series is well and truly over, as no team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit.
As well as Kyrie needing to get going, the Mavericks role players will need a big showing here. Their bench hasn’t provided a whole lot in this series, so our Aussie starts Josh Green and Donte Exum not only need to make open 3s, but continue to push the pace at home and keep this crowd on their feet!
Dallas made the adjustment from Game 1 in terms of spreading the love to get their team mates involved. Their Game 3 adjustment simply needs to be to push the pace, get into an early offence so these brilliant Celtics guards can’t get set on D, and make open shots!
Boston well and truly deserve to win this NBA Title, but it would be very nice to see Dallas hold home court and give us a series to finish off what has been an incredible NBA Season.
