Shout Out to the Brodie! The Real MVP

Shout Out to the Brodie! The Real MVP

One word. Wow.

Russell Westbrook this season made a lot of basketball fans happy, and we were truly blessed to watch something like that take place this season.

Records are meant to be broken. But when a record hasn’t been broken in over 50 years, you know what we witnessed was special.

These weren’t just little triple doubles that Russ was getting, they were big ones.

I was lucky enough to be in a bar in Austin watching Russ break the record (42 triple doubles for the season) hitting a long game winning 3, while recording an unbelievable 50 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists. The bar erupted because we all knew what he had just done. It was special, and you had to be happy for the little guys in OKC for having the season they had.

But there’s absolutely no chance OKC got near their 47 win season without Westbrook. They are a lottery team, if not the worst team without Russ. Which is why Russell Westbrook is the MVP of the league, and if there was ever a season that the MVP should be UNANIMOUS, then it should have been this season.

Russell averaged 31.6 PPG, 10.4 APG and 10.7 RPG. Incredible.

OKC’s season all came crashing down in the playoffs, losing the series to Houston 4-1. This can’t be put on Russ. He once again averaged a triple double in the playoffs averaging 37.4 PPG, 10.8 APG and 11.6 RPG. At the end of the day, Russ ran out of gas. He didn’t have the help that was needed to win a championship.

It was sad to watch, when he was going through those stretches in the 4th, knowing they just didn’t have enough help to get him through. Something needs to be done for him this off season to get this man some help!

It doesn’t take away what Russ did this season. As basketball fans we were truly blessed to witness what he did this season, breaking the Big O’s triple double record, and just playing with such a will to win every single night.

So thank you Russell Westbrook. You’ve showed us that taking nights off isn’t an option, and that sticking with the little guy is just as good. OKC will be back as long as Russ has the controls, he just needs a little more help to get them over the hump!

Would love to know everyone’s thoughts!!
