Suns Rise to the NBA Finals

Suns Rise to the NBA Finals

Chris Paul finally has a date with the NBA Finals, as the Phoenix Suns finished off the Clippers in 6 games to claim the Western Conference Title!

Chris Paul was nothing short of incredible in Game 6, piling in 41 Points (16-24), 4 Rebounds and 8 Assists, getting this Phoenix Suns team to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1993!

Phoenix have formed their own big 3, and did it all without the usual fanfare.

They did this through hard work.

Devin Booker and DeAndre Ayton were always talented young players, but never had that veteran leader to push them to their limits, and get them over the edge to get to their ultimate goal of winning an NBA Title.

It started in the NBA Bubble for this team, who went 8-0, only to fall agonisingly short of making a historic playoff run.

Monty Williams made sure his team wouldn’t take any moment for granted during the regular season, pointing out to his team when exiting the bubble to never get in this situation again just to make the playoffs.

They came out a completely different team to start the season, and with the addition of Chris Paul, pairing him with a young superstar in Devin Booker, this team was ready to make plenty of noise in the 2020-21 NBA Season.

The addition of Jae Crowder also shouldn’t be over looked, coming from a Miami Heat team who made an NBA Finals run of their own last season, adding more veteran leadership to a young team ready to take the next step.

Guys like Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson have also stepped up to the plate in the playoffs. These guys just look like they were born to play the game of basketball!

Then there’s Torrey Craig. From the NBL, to the NBA Finals!

Craig was huge in Game 6, with Cam Johnson out and Crowder in foul trouble late in the third, Craig played huge minutes, burying a huge 3 and continually doing all the dirty work for his team.

Lastly, the role Cam Payne played getting this team to where they are right now is probably the most important of the lot.

With CP3 out under the health and safety protocols for the first 2 games of the series, Payne was brilliant stepping up in his place!

Payne may very well have saved the series for the Suns with his opening 2 games, tallying 40 Points and 18 Assists.

Performances which may not have happened without the guidance of Chris Paul, the POINT GOD, who would have got his team mate more than ready for situations like this!

Devin Booker now has the chance to get his broken nose right, potentially with a week’s rest, hoping the Bucks and Hawks can go the full 7 games (as NBA Fans so do we!).

The Clippers at the end of the day today looked gassed, playing 17 games in 34 days, and without their All-Star Kawhi Leonard, had nothing left in the tank.

Pat Beverley’s emotions ran high, shoving Chris Paul in the back (inexcusable), and had him ejected late in the contest.

But by then CP3 had put the nail in the coffin with a Playoffs performance for the ages, sending the Clippers on a holiday to Cancun a week or two earlier than they’d hoped for.

The Suns will enjoy this one tonight, but in true Mamba Mentality they’ll know one thing.

JOBS NOT FINISHED!
