The Kings Are Having a Party!

The Kings Are Having a Party!

The Kings are having a party! Yes, those were the words sung out by the boys as they won their 2nd straight game this season defeating the Taipans! Jason Cadee (big Bulldogs NRL Fan himself, and a man who’s been in brilliant form this season!) clearly has seen the boys in Blue and White ring that out enough times over the last couple of seasons and put his own little spin on a Kings Purple and Gold version!! Check out @Josh21Powell Instagram!

Andrew Gaze looked like a far happier man after 2 big wins, the first over a very good Illawarra team on the road, who the kings will face on a tough double header this week (first game in NZ Thursday night).

Early season favourites Melbourne Utd looked like themselves again winning both their games in round 2 as well. They’ll only continue to get better, as superstar Chris Goulding put on a show in the 2nd half on Sunday’s win against Illawarra. Todd Blanchfield was lights out also, with most of his 3s from the corner barely hitting rim! If this were NBA Jam, his 3 balls were lit up with fire!!

The season may only be early, but game of the season goes to the Brisbane Bullets and Adelaide 36ers. In Cam Bairstow’s first hit out for the season the Bullets looked like they were flying. Enter Jerome Randle. He, along with Chris Goulding, when in rhythm are by far the 2 best players in this league to watch. When Randle is hitting that mid-range shot with constant ease, he is actually impossible to guard. He put on a clinic (34 Points) in what was a brilliant come back in the 2nd half to force overtime against a very talented and well drilled Bullets side up in Brisbane.

Monday night basketball returns to the league this week, with the Kings facing off against Illawarra. I do hope it has better luck than every other sport in this country, with TV Ratings very high but crowd attendances extremely low (note Monday night Football in the NRL, which has been brushed).

There may be a few absentees this week at Monday night Basketball at Alexandria due to some wanting to attend this game! It will be a cracker of a game so here’s hoping for a big crowd in what will be another great battle between two great rivals!

Let us know here at Throwback what you thought of the last round and we look forward to yet another great round of Aussie Hoops! One more week till the NBA begins, it’s Hoop Fans heaven!
