The NBA Finals match up has been set!
Golden State finally have their opponent for Game 1.
Boston will face off against Golden State on Friday to open up what should be a mouth-watering NBA Finals series.
Golden State cruised to a 4-1 Conference Finals series win over Luka and the Dallas Mavericks.
Steph Curry showed everyone why he should be the favourite to win the NBA Finals MVP with a dominant display.
Steph went on to average just under 24 PPG but it was his 7.4 Assists per game that really set the series apart.
Curry’s ability to defer and create for his team mates shows how dangerous this team can be.
Having Klay Thompson as well as a rejuvenated Andrew Wiggins (All-Star Andrew) nailing multiple 3 balls gives Steph even more space to work with.
Golden State have won 3 out of the last 7 NBA Championships, losing to the Cavs in 2015 and the Raptors 2019.
Taking nothing away from the Raptors, but injuries to Kevin Durant (Achilles) and Klay Thompson (ACL) marred that series win, so this is as good as a dynasty gets.
Making 6 of the last 8 NBA Finals is some kind of achievement in itself, and there’s one more team that stands in the way of putting a dent in this historical run.
Boston finished off Miami today 100-96 in a tense finish, one in which Boston limped to the finish line!
Boston failed to hit a FG in the last 4 minutes of the game (Marcus smart nailing 4 straight FTs for their only points late in the contest).
Jimmy Butler pulled up from 3 to hit the front late in the game but left it short.
Butler had Al Horford on the back foot and could have got himself to the rim to tie the game up, but opted to go for the win.
Take nothing away from Jimmy though, he was nothing short of phenomenal all series, and should’ve been awarded with the Eastern Conference Finals MVP.
Jayson Tatum was awarded the Eastern Conference Finals MVP (named after Larry Bird), and if the award was to go to the winning team, Tatum was the deserved winner.
Tatum’s late pull up FG with just over 4 to play (Boston’s last) was Kobe like, as he proudly wore the 24 purple arm band!
In one of the biggest games of his career, Tatum channelled his inner Mamba Mentality, going for 26 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists.
Boston will need Tatum and Brown to fire in the NBA Finals if they’re going to have a chance to add another title to this historic Boston Celtics franchise.
